Landscape Design and Application

Karşıyaka Hilltown Shopping Mall, operated by Rönesans Holding and architecturally designed by Tconcept, is a comprehensive retail and recreational complex comprising approximately 90,000 m² of built-up area, with around 200 retail units and a variety of shared public and communal spaces. The landscape concept design and landscape implementation projects were prepared by Betula Landscape Architecture.

The project adopts a comprehensive design approach that emphasizes the integration of interior and exterior spaces. Landscape and design schemes were developed for a range of spaces serving diverse user experiences, including primary entrances, circulation areas, corridors, communal spaces, and the food court. The relationship between the built environment and open spaces was addressed through a spatial configuration that supports user movement and accommodates a variety of use scenarios.

Conceived as one of İzmir’s significant commercial and recreational destinations, the project aims to provide high-quality open and semi-open spaces where users can spend extended periods of time beyond their shopping activities, relax, socialize, and engage with environments that respond to the diverse needs of different age groups.

The landscape design establishes functional, accessible, and experience-oriented spaces that respond to the needs of different user groups, while placing particular emphasis on ensuring visual and physical continuity between the building, open spaces, and circulation routes. In this way, the shopping mall is conceived not merely as a commercial facility, but as an integrated public realm that supports social interaction, recreation, and a diverse range of everyday activities.

The implementation of the landscape concept design and landscape projects prepared by Betula Landscape Architecture was carried out by different contractor companies.
