Landscape Design and Application

This landscape design and construction project, completed at Ulus Naile Sultan Residences, was developed to redefine the existing garden in response to the evolving needs of its users. The primary design constraint was the occupants’ status as tenants, requiring that no permanent intervention be made to the existing building fabric or hardscape surfaces.

In response to these limitations, a self-supporting galvanized steel substructure was developed, allowing the entire landscape system to be installed without damaging the existing paving. High-performance Iroko timber decking was then installed over the galvanized steel framework, creating a durable and elevated outdoor surface. All electrical, automatic irrigation, and other mechanical service lines were fully integrated within the steel substructure, ensuring a clean and uninterrupted appearance. In areas where limited clearance at the building entrances restricted the available build-up height, a plastic pedestal grid system was employed to minimize level differences while allowing the decking to continue seamlessly throughout the garden.

The project also incorporates bespoke design solutions developed to meet functional requirements while maintaining a refined visual character. Custom-designed storage units and architectural screening elements were integrated to discreetly conceal outdoor storage areas and air-conditioning condenser units. In addition, galvanized steel railings, entrance threshold elevation details, and project-specific custom metal fabrications were carefully designed and executed as integral components of the overall landscape scheme.

To enhance the comfort and functionality of the outdoor living spaces, seating areas were furnished with imported outdoor furniture specifically selected for exterior use. Spatial continuity was further reinforced through the introduction of bespoke movable planters alongside imported self-irrigating planter systems, allowing the planting design to remain both flexible and easily maintainable.

Through carefully engineered construction solutions that preserved the existing structure, a functional design approach, and the use of high-quality materials, the project successfully transformed the garden into a distinctive outdoor living environment that brings together aesthetics, durability, and everyday comfort without requiring any permanent intervention to the existing property.
