Landscape Design and Application

Located in the privileged setting of Kanlıca overlooking the Bosphorus, this residential project was conceived as an exclusive living environment that integrates a classical architectural character with a carefully considered landscape design. Both the design and implementation processes were carried out by our team.

The foundation of the design approach lies in creating a strong and timeless outdoor environment that complements the classical architectural language of the residence. To establish a welcoming and monumental arrival experience along the entrance axis, a bespoke ornamental pool, conceived as a sculptural element, was positioned at the center of the vehicle turning area. This central focal point enhances the arrival sequence while extending the architectural character of the residence into the landscape through a defining design feature. The handcrafted podima pebble paving used along the driveway further translates the craftsmanship and attention to detail inherent in the classical style into the ground plane.

Taking advantage of the different levels of the site, the landscape was organized around a series of interconnected spaces designed to accommodate various aspects of outdoor living. The expansive upper terrace brings together dining and seating functions, creating a living environment that engages directly with the Bosphorus view. At the lower level, the swimming pool and surrounding poolside seating areas establish a quieter and more recreational setting. In this way, the natural character of the topography was transformed from a purely physical constraint into one of the fundamental components of the spatial experience.

Custom-made planters used across the terraces and at the building entrances were carefully selected and positioned to complement the architectural proportions through variations in scale, form, and texture. This measured relationship between the landscape elements and the architecture creates a cohesive and balanced visual language throughout the outdoor spaces.

The metal railings and gates, designed to complement the characteristic details of the classical architectural style, were likewise developed in harmony with the overall architectural language of the project. Through the considered integration of material, form, and craftsmanship, a cohesive landscape approach was established, allowing the architectural identity of the residence to continue seamlessly into the outdoor environment.

Completed in the mid-2000s, the project continues to attract attention today with its distinctive architectural character, commanding position overlooking the Bosphorus, and strong outdoor spatial composition. Since its completion, the residence has also been selected as a location for various television series and film productions, maintaining its status as one of the distinctive private residences in the area.
