Landscape Design and Application

Located in Acarkent, Beykoz, this residential garden was redesigned with minimal intervention, preserving the character of the existing landscape design. The main design approach was based on the use of modular planters and planting applications in varying scales, forms, colors, and materials, without altering the existing hardscape.

Groups of planters positioned across the expansive hardscape surfaces introduce rhythm and layering to the space, while the planting creates a more natural and inviting atmosphere. The combination of modules in different heights and dimensions establishes a dynamic visual balance within the existing architectural and groundscape composition.

Within the green areas, planting zones were defined using raised corten steel elements, integrating the warm, natural rust tones of the metal with the greenery of the vegetation. This intervention adds a contemporary and distinctive detail to the existing character of the garden, while creating a visual transition between different levels and textures.

One of the primary objectives of the project was to soften the residence’s rigid and cool architectural identity through the use of planting. The colors, textures, and forms of the vegetation balance the strong geometry of the architecture, creating a warmer, more natural, and livable outdoor atmosphere.

Ultimately, rather than introducing large-scale interventions to the existing design, the project was conceived as a simple yet effective landscape application that strengthens the character of the garden through carefully selected planters, materials, and planting textures.
