Which plants would you recommend for giving the garden a fresh new look this season?

“Spring is a particularly fortunate and enjoyable season for the garden. It is the perfect time to welcome a wonderful variety of plants into your outdoor space. You can choose from species such as Euryops, large white-flowering daisies, African daisies, and mandevilla.

Geraniums, petunias, groundcovers, verbenas, and Gynura—commonly known as ‘velvet plant’—are also among the leading plants of the season.

April is also an ideal time to plant aromatic and culinary herbs such as mint, thyme, and sage. Varieties of carnations, bougainvillea, and jasmine also come into bloom during this period, creating a beautiful seasonal combination in the garden.”

Essential Plants for the Garden

Plants play a fundamental role in creating visual richness in garden design. When developing a planting scheme, you should envision variations of color and tone that work harmoniously together. Color combinations should be incorporated particularly along garden paths and entrance routes to create a welcoming and cohesive composition.

You can also introduce contrasting colors, forms, and textures among plant species. This creates visual balance while allowing individual plants to become striking focal points.

For example, if you place Cortaderia next to Kniphofia, both plants may compete visually and lose some of their individual impact. Instead, combine a strongly architectural plant with a simpler, more restrained species. In a successful planting design, the two plants should complement and support one another rather than compete for attention.

For bold and impactful compositions, avoid relying on a single plant species throughout the design. Red tulips emerging among blue forget-me-nots, for example, can create a particularly striking contrast.

For a more tranquil atmosphere, green and red tones can be combined in a controlled manner. The understated character of Carex can be paired with the liveliness of flowering groundcovers, allowing calm foliage textures and vibrant seasonal color to coexist.

If you want to introduce stronger colors into your garden, create contrast by combining them with carefully selected companion plants. Mature flowering plants can also be incorporated to provide structure and a sense of permanence.

Along the edges of a large lawn, planting groups arranged within a circular composition can create visually engaging focal areas. When taller plants are introduced into these groups to provide depth and vertical layering, the result can be a rich and dynamic landscape composition.”
